IV International Festival of Circus ArtOn March 5, 2001 President Volkov met with the members of the IV International Festival of Circus Art in Izhevsk.
In his opening address Alexander Volkov thanked Mr. Urs Pilz, Vice-President of the International Circus Festival in Monte Carlo, and his foreign and Russian colleagues for participating in the Izhevsk festival of masters of circus art representing 18 countries. “I hope that through our common effort Izhevsk will gradually turn into a capital of the Russian curcus art”, — said Alexander Volkov. President Volkov awarded the title of the Honored Worker of Culture of the Udmurt Republic and handed certificates and badges to Bruno Laloye (France), Fabio Montico (Italy), Gao Yue (China), Yuriy Kukuzenko (Ukraine), Aleksey Zhitnitskiy (Ukraine), and Sergey Belyakov (Russia). Mr Pilz remarked in his speech that the level of the Izhevsk festival has been growing from year to year, and that it has entered the highest category of international circus festivals. And so, Mr Pilz said, he was certain that the words of the Udmurt President about Izhevsk as a Russian capital of circus art will definitely come true. Lyudmila Yairova, Directorate Charperson at the Russian National Foundation for the Support of Theater and Cinema Actors, thanked Alexander Volkov for his contribution to the development of circus art and awarded him the Foundation’s medal No. 1. |
