Society of Russian Culture of the Udmurt Republic Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary

On April 4, 2011 President of the Udmurt Republic Alexander Volkov attended a grand meeting devoted to the 20th anniversary of the Society of Russian Culture of the Udmurt Republic.

The Society of Russian Culture whose membership amounts to 5 thousand people has 35 branches in all cities and disctricts of the Udmurt Republic. Its activities are aimed at revival, preservation and development of the Russian culture, educating the new generation in the spirit of love and respect for the culture of their native land and people.

This public organization supports over a hundred groups uniting both children and adults engaged in collecting, studying and promoting traditional Russian folk art and songs: “Russky Samovar” (Alnashi village), “Luchinushka” (Uva settlement), “Dushechka” (Mozhga city), “Zvonnitsa” (Grakhovo village).

Alexander Volkov stressed a special role of the Society of Russian Culture and other similar organizations in promoting interethnic concord in the Udmurt Republic: “All public associations in Udmurtia, including the Society of Russian Culture, contribute to the formation of national awareness among the republic’s younger generation. You are reviving the best traditions of our Fatherland, you work for a better future of the citizens of the republic, and you are doing your best to ensure political stability in this country.”
