The National Flag of the Udmurt Republic is a rectangular 3-colour cloth consisting of vertical equal stripes of black, white and red (from left to right) with an emblem. Proportion of width and length of the flag - 1:2. In the middle of the white stripe there is an eight-pointed red solar sign, which does not overlap black and red stripes and is inscribed in a square with a side equal to 5/6 of a flag stripe width. Width of vertical and horizontal solar sign stripes equals 1/3 of the side of the square. Each stripe ends with two symmetrical teeth, internal sides of which form a 90 degrees angle with a vertex deepened to the center of the sign at 1/2 stripe width. In the National Flag of the Udmurt Republic the black color symbolizes earth and stability, the red color – the sun and life, and the white color – the Universe and moral purity. Generalized image of the white swan, or man-bird, is a symbol of revival, wisdom, valor and perfection. It’s based on the mythology of the Udmurt, Russian, Tatar and other nations of the Udmurt Republic. Legendary solar signs protect the man from misfortunes. A large solar sign is an earthy embodiment of protecting powers, smaller signs represent the space powers. The National Anthem of the Udmurt Republic is an official state symbol of the Udmurt Republic. The National Anthem of the Udmurt Republic may be performed by an orchestra or choir, separately or jointly, or using other vocal and instrumental media. Audio and video recordings may also be used for playing the Anthem, as may television and radio broadcasts. The National Anthem of the Udmurt Republic shall be performed in strict accordance with the musical score and lyrics approved by this Law. When the National Anthem of the Udmurt Republic is performed officially, the audience shall rise and remain standing throughout the playing of the anthem; men shall remove their headgear. If the National Anthem is played while the National Flag is being raised, the audience faces the National Flag of the Udmurt Republic.
